It's Summer let's take a sizzling hot look at Basketball recruiting!
Shavlik Randolph released his set schedule of visits, most taking place in October. One includes a visit to UNC_CH on oct. 13th, the same day as Midnight with Matt, and expects an at home visit from Coach Doherty on September 9th. Other visits include Kansas, Duke,Stanford, and a few others...more to come later.
*no word on him yet~sorry*UNC prospect Curtis Sumpter is expected to annouce his school decision Saturday night, and I'm guessing it'll be to Villanova and not the heels, for they kind of forgot him during the hunt for bigman(but ACC fans still want you Curtis!)
Here's the Inside recruiting quote of the day: "I think he matches up against bigger, slower men. He definately has the body to hang low and definately would absolutely abuse any one on the opposite side of the court to foul out(in the center position." Can you guess who we're talking about...well it's star standout shelden williams of course, who is leaning on Duke and UNC as his college choices!
We've Got Clint's Fire Squad Results for Summer 2001!
plus check out AAU reports on home page(adele's corner)

1. Rashaad McCants: 6'3 WF: this guy growls, hisses on defense and explodes from what seems like a crowded lane for monster jams, verbally commited carolina.
2. JR Morris: 6'5 WF: Morris will give you all he has on the floor all the time, He's verbally committed to Illinois.
3. Greg Brunner: He takes the ball to the rim with no respect to any defenders within his path. Definately an Iowa favorite. his Dunk ove Jason Fraser at the Tournament of Champions(in late may.) was quite impressive.
4. Matt Trannon 6'7 PF-WF: He's a world class athlete that trives in transition, due to his quick feet on the floor.
5. Ricardo Billings: 6'5 WF: This Michigan wing forward is very effective at attacking a basket offf the dribble, and is involved in almost every offensive rebound ploy there is.
6. Amare Stoudemire 6'10 C: Need I say more than, " his verbal commitment to Memphis is about as safe as holding a paper towel over your head during a hurricane."
7.Raymond Felton: What list would be complete with this "firey" on the court player, who doesn't mind going right to the rim, despite large post players right in his face. A UNC Recruit.

Honorable Mentions:
1. Hassan Adams 6'4 SG
2. Alex Carmona 6'5 WF
3. Rick Cornett 6'7 PF
4. Curtis Sumpter 6'7 WF
5. Lenny Cooke 6'6 SG
6. Alex Johnson 6'9 PF
7. Bobby Jones 6'5 SG
8. Kevin Bookout 6'8 C
9. Chris Rodgers 6'3 PG
10. J.J. Redick 6'5 SG(duke recruit)

When you hear the word summer by simple word association many people think of things such as the beach, bbqs, and poolside antics, but when your in the coaches pool the only word you can think to associate with summer is basketball recruiting. It's hot and humid outside but it's even more sizzling on the court, lets heat things up, or should I say cool things down, with the latest info on the top twenty five elite prospects to watch out for......

#1Amare Stoudemire
Height: 6'10
Weight:245
Position: Center/Big Forward
High School : Orlando, Cypress Hill
AAU team/club: Fastbreak USA.
Juniorstats.com: did not play as a junior.
Comment: see home page for more detail. A true prize, with a certain dominance and agility on the court unlike any other player with his jaw dropping dunks, it will not help him, though it hasn't hurt yet, not to play on the basketball high school scene, his senior season.
grades:?
Summer Plans: adidas, ABCD, events with fastbreak
Colleges: commited to memphis, but the nba looms overheard.

#2 Lenny Cooke

height: 6-6
Weight: 200
Position: Wing Forward
High School: Cornwall on Hudson in NY
AAU Team/Club: Long Island Panthers.
Junior stats:33.2 points, 16.4 rebounds, 6.3 blocks, 2 assists per game at Old Tappan, advanced to sectional semis.
Comment: Though he only got to play in seven games due to transfer rules, he is wildly skilled in the wing and on the court in general. He truly impresses with his inside abilities. great at passing and dribbling abilites, dilemnas include his age, nineteen and needs a better range on jumper.
Grades: ?
Summer Plans: adidas camp, events with Long Island Panthers
Colleges: NBA, St. Johns, Tulane, Seton Hall, others(our inside guess is most likely nba bound)

#3 Raymond Felton:
Height: 6'1
Weight: 175
Position: Guard
High School: Latta SC High
AAU Team/Club: Beach Ball Select, and Raleigh Heat
Junior Stats:28 pts., 6.8 rebounds, 6.6 assists, 4 steals per game, 57 % FG, 41 % perimeter shooter.
Comment: Enjoyed a banner junior season at tiny Latta. Super quick, and an explosive leaper, exceptional ballhandler and passer, Defensive playmaker, Decision making and jumpshot tend to be streaky, Can carry team on his shoulders when necessary, Delivers in the clutch. Will be an immediate asset to UNC's programs in 2002.
Grades: 3.0, just short on sat
Summer Plans: adidas ABCD camp, events with Beach Ball Select
College plans: The North Carolina TARHEELS!

#4 shavlik randolph
height: 6'10
weight: 215
High School: Raleigh , NC, Broughton
AAU/Club-team: Raleigh Heat.
Junior stats: 28 points , 13 rebounds, 5 blocks per game, team advanced to Class 4A state semis.
Comment: With Shavlik this is a name you are just not going to stop hearing, after helping along with fsu recruit of 2001 anthony richardson to sell out reynolds coll. he combines simply the best of both worlds in his game, whether shooting from the field or the perimeter it's likely he'll get his target, passing pete maravichs record at Durham jordan earlier this year. with 53 points. However despite playing hard, his chipped ankle could really hurt his standings which are vitally determined during the AAU heat, which is at least to say to his disadvantage, ballhandling good along with rebounding understands position, needs to build more muscle so he can dominate against elite athletes.
grades:3.5, 1000 SAT
Summer: Nike Camp, events with Heat, Vegas Big TIme, Peach jam
Colleges: UNC, Duke , NC State, Florida, Kansas, Stanford.

#5 Anthony Roberson:
height: 6-0
weight-170
High School: Saginaw
AAU: Michigan Hurricanes
Junior Stats: 24.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists per game, 48% FG, 76% FT, 42% from the perimeter.
Comment: all you really have to do is look at the stats next to raymond felton, roberson trulyis one of the most prized point guards to be sought after, a pure shooter, good at getting in both fields and perimeters easily, Ouick on his feet, no one prevents or blocks roberson from taking a shot. Main concern is to rely less on his own personal offense when on the court.

#6 Sani Ibrahim
height: 6-10
weight:230
Position: Center
High School: Oak HIll
AAU: Atlanta Celtics
juniorstats:17.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.5 blocks per game, team 23-9
Comment: his rebounding skills are great, unfortuanately he needs to take the next step up and become a better blocker, which would intensify his game, along with developing his FG and Perimeters. Though he excels in the free throw area.Nigeria native because of which must work on English.
Summer Plans: adidas, events with celtics
Colleges, likely to hit the NBA draft, others

J.J. Redick:
Height: 6-5
Weight: 185
Position: WG
High school: Roanoke (VA) cave spring
AAU team: Raleigh heat.
junior stats: 28 pts, 6.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists per game, 57% FG, 91% FT, 44% 3s
Comments:The best pure shooter I have seen in a long time. Truly magnificent jumpshot with plenty of range, can hit off the dribble or running around screens. Hit 61 straight FT's as a junior. Quite impressive.
Grades: qualified w/ 3.4 GPA, 1200 + SAT
Summer Plans: Nike, events with Boo Williams and Raleigh Heat.
Colleges: A major blue devil fan, he commited to duke immediately after word hit that they wanted him.

#8: Sean Dockery
Height -6'2
Weight- 175
Postion: PG
High School: Chicago, Julian
AAU Team: Illinois Fire.
Junior Stats: 21 pts., 8 rebounds, 9 assists, 5 steals
Comment: has size and scoring abitliy to perfectly complement his ball distribution skills. Clutch shooter is a killer when the game is on the line.
Summer: adidas, events with Fire
Colleges: Duke leads Florida and Illinois

#9 Rashad Mccants:
Height: 6'4
Weight: 190
Position: Wing Foward, WG
AAU team: charlotte royals
Junior stats: 24 pts, 6 rebounds, 4 assists per game.
Comment: Who doesn't like Mccants you've got to admit that this undersized wing causes a tremor on the court, slender but strong, okay from the perimeter, tough and vocal defender, shouldn't intimidate opponents verbally, one of our favorite catches.
Summer Plans: Nike, and events with Royals
College: Commited to North Carolina Tarheels!

#10 Bracey Wright:
Height: 6'3
Weight: 175
Position: Wing Guard
High School: the colony
AAU club: team texas.
junior stats: 20.9 pts , 6 rebounds, 3 assists , 2 steals per game.
Comments: you've got to give this guy credit, it was only a few weeks ago he wasn't even in the top 25, but after some amazing aau performances, man all we can say is sorry we were wrong bracey: Beautiful high-arching jumpshot, with great range, quick on the court, and an unselfish passer. Work on ball handling though.
Grades: 3.1 GPA 20 ACT
Summer: Nike, events with Team Texas
Colleges: Indiana, Tenn., Louisville, UCLLA, NOtre Dame, Kentucky, others.

#11 Shelden Williams:
height: 6'10
Weight: 230
Position BF, C
AAU: Athletes First
junior stats: 19.7 pts, 11.1 rebounds, 4.7 blocks.
comment: man do we love shelden, he is a great rebounder and blocker, not to mention an explosive athlete on the court, who dominates his opponents with his muscular force. Must in the same respect therefore however be careful with excess weight.
Grades: 3.8, 18 ACT
Summer: adidas, events with athletes
colleges: Unc, Duke, Illinois, Oklahoma, Kentucky, Stanford, Southern Cal, Kansas, others.

#12: Sean May:
height: 6'8
Weight 255
Position: BF, C
junior stats: 24.7 points, 13.3 rebounds, 2 blocks , 60.7 FG
Comment: Too bulky for most defenders to keep off the low block, Deft scoring touch inside. Good position rebounder. Needs like Shelden to work on excessive weight, though i've seen that improving.
Grades: 2.9
Summer: nike, events with bloomington reds-aau team
Colleges: UNC, indiana, Ohio State, Iowa MSU, others

#13 Carmelo Anthony
height: 6'7
weight: WF
AAU: Balt. Blue
Junior stats: 23 pts, 10.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists.
Comment: handles passes well enough for guard.
College: Syracuse

#14: Evan Burns:
height: 6'7
weight: 205
Position: wf
AAU: team DADA
juniorstats: 22 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 blocks.
Comment: who doesn't want Evan Burns, he has excellent quickness and leaping ability, slender frame, helps to keep agility in focus, needs to work on perimeter shots.
grades: 2.4
Summer: nike , events with AAU
colleges: UCLA, Arizona, AState, San Diego STate, i'm guessing he'll take the pluge into steve gavin's program at UCLA

#15: Jimmy Mckinney:
height: 6'4
weight: 175:
Position: WG
AAU: St. Louis Gameface
juniorstats: 23.4 pts, 4.2 rebounds, 4 rebounds, 51 % FG, 89.5% FT
Comments: polished scoring tools, handles and distrubutes well enough to play point guard at a pinch.
Colleges: ST. Louis, Missouri, Illinois, Arkansas, TEnn. (i'm thinking the buzz here is TEnn or the fighting Illina.)

#16: Jason Fraser:
Height: 6'9
Weight: 210
Position: C/BF
Junior stats: 21 pts, 15 rebounds, 8 blocks, 6 assists.
Comment: uncommonly talented shotblocker for a man his size, great defensive instincts, needs more seasoning to play away from the post.
Summer: adidas, long island panthers events.
Colleges: UNC, St. JOhns, Villanova, Syracuse, GT, Maryland, Massachusetts. lets hope one of the acc schools takes a run, i think maryland has the inside track but don't count GT and UNC out just yet.

#17 Torin Francis:
height: 6'10
Weight: 220
Position: Center
AAU:BABC
junior stats: 20 pts, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks.
Comment: Athletic and skilled, shoots with good form...has to become more assertive on the court.
summer: nike, events with BABC
Colleges: UNC, Notre Dame, Georgetwon, GT, Maryland, BC, UVA, Duke, others.

#18: paul davis
height: 6'10
weight: 225
Position: BF
AAU : Michigan mustangs
Juniorstats: 21 pts, 15 rebounds, 4 blocks, 2 steals.
Comment: for his size he has excellent intuition on the defensive end, his rebounding is remarkable, sometimes gets out of sync in the heat of the game however.

#19 Antonio Lawerence:
height 6'4
Weight: 185
Position: WG
High school: Jacksonville
AAU: team EBO
juniorstats: 17.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 18.7 advanced to district semis
comment: played only 14 games due to a broken hand, terrific leaper with top notch body control, very fast in transition, sometimes gets' out of control using questionable shot selection.

#20 Deangelo Collins
height: 6'10
Weight:225
Position: BF
AAU: LA paladins
junior stats: 14 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists
comments: Elite talent but notoriously inconsistent....don't float around the perimeter or let yourself get pushed around inside.
Summer: adidas, paladins events.
College: probably the NBA, others

#21 Kelenna Azubuike
Height: 6-5
Position: WG/WF
High School: Tulsa(OK) Victory Christian
AAU: Athletes First
Juniorstats: 37.8 points, 5.9 steals per game, 62% FG, 71%FT, 43% 3's, team 23-5, advanced to state semis.
Comment: An athlete first, hence the name of his aau team, At personal best when running the court and finishing the break... Okay Jumpshot, knack for mid-range shooting, Strong Frame enables him to finish 3's, most prove he can perform with the best of the NBA boys, seeing he has expressed a willingness to go into the draft(2002)
Grades:(wow) 4.0, qualifying SAT
summer plans: adidas(it's the in place this summer), events with athletes first.
Colleges: NBA, others

Weight: 185
Postion: PG/WG
High School: Worcester (MA) Academy
AAU: PV Blue Devils
juniorstats: 33 pts, 7 assists, 5 rebounds per game(at Durham Mt. Zion)
Comment: Epitome of smooth, Big PG knows how to use his height to advance strategy throughout the game, Overpowers smaller players, but can handle the bigger ones as well, Uses an assortment of pull-ups, leaners, and flippers to finish them off at that. Needs to look for opportune jumpshots.
summer plans: Nike, events with Devils
Colleges: GT, Cincinnati, marlyland, Charlotte, Duke

#23: Matt Trannon
Height: 6'7
Weight: 215
Position: WF
High School: Flint Northern
AAU: Michigan Hurricanes
juniorstats: 18.9 points, 9.8 rebounds per game, 52% free throws, team 23-3, advanced to semis.
comment: outstanding athlete, still however needs to refine skills, needs to upgrade dribbling and passing skills. I believe if he works hard over the summer and next year he will go higher, and will definately come into his own throughout his college career.
Summer plans: adidas, events with hurricanes
colleges: Cincinnati, MSU, Michigan( I think a good pick-we tend to like there coaches abilities and would work well for Trannon-as would GA), Georgia, SCal, others

Grades: 2.9
Summer Plans: nike, events with Boo Williams
Colleges: Indiana, Florida, Maryland, St. Johns, NC state.(all you can say is poor nc state, the school has been after john since his freshmen year , but you really can't blame him for him to opt for other schools first, perhaps Maryland, INdiana or Florida.
