John Gilchrist, though rumoured by an early edition of a Sunday paper, in his home town of VA beach, that his high school basketball coach had leeked that he had officially commited to State, John said, "not so fast," " I haven't commited anywhere yet, however I hope to have my decision by the end of the week(end), and State is still definately a leader." It can be assumed that Gilchrist is still taking a long hard look at Maryland and Georgetown as well.

recruiting
Accomplished recruiter Herb Sendek faces a new challenge on the trail this season, how to address the swirling rumors about his job security in Raleigh. The pack continues to work hard for C Eric Williams, a mountainous specimen who is nearly impossible to dislodge from the post once he gains position. BF Shavlik Randolph looms as a job saver, though i don't believe he'll go to state, along with John Gilchrist, whom the pack has been courting for years, and Cameron Bennerman.

N.C. State hooks in it's first 2002 class prepster!
Cameron Bennerman, a 4 foot 4 basketball player from Greensboro became the first high school player to commit to N>C. for next year when he chose the Wolfpack over Clemson and UVA on Monday. " I have imagined myself playing at State for years," said Bennerman, a three-year starter at Greensboro grimsley. "From the ninth grade until today, I pictured myself in the uniform, in the dressing room, on the campus. State is just the place for me. Everything is lovely there." Bennerman, who is ranked No. 60 in the country by recruiting analyst Brick Oettinger, averaged 21 points and ten rebounds last season at Grimsley. This coming season, he will play at Hargrave Military Academy in Chatam Virginia, where he has been taking classes this summer.
Bennerman said he was going to Hargave to play his natural swing position.
"Some people see me as a one(but i'm much more comfortable as a two or a three, somewhere out on the wing."
Recruiting analyst Dave Telep( of bluechips.com, who has Bennerman listed at No. 87, said he has a chance to do well at State.
"He will flourish at Hargrave this year. I expect he will be a big scorer there." Telep said." His great asset is his athleticism."
"He can shoot from the perimeter and really has a chance to be a good player for State."
Bennerman said State was one of the first schools to show interest in him and has paid increasing attention to him throughout his career.
