Richardson comes short on college board requirements, even if not on the court!(updated)
Poor Anthony Richardson, this guy, despite many attempts at the SAT, the BF and PF who graduated from Raleigh's Leesville Road High earlier this spring and helped to lead his pride to the state championships against Winston Salem's Reynolds(who beat the pride by 22 points), has come up ten points short once again on the NCAA minimum for his SAT scores. Unfornately for FSU recruit Richardson as well, he came short on his ACT minimum as well. As a result Richardson is keeping his options open," right now i don't know what i'm going to do," I've got a few options , but I need to talk with my coaches and decide what's best". After scoring 13 points Tuesday in the NC Coaches Association East West All -Star game in Greensboro, he said he anticipated enrolling at FSU as a partial qualifier. Partial qualifers have either the NCAA minimum G{A or college board score, but not both. Richardson also could enroll as a part-time student at FSU, take courses and continue to work on his college board tests. He would be eligible to play as soon as he had a qualifying score and was admitted as a full time student. Another popular option with athletes is to attend prep school, a year to get a qualifying board score. Thus making him eligible to play in the spring or fall of 2002. But one definate thing is that Richardson is commited to the noles'. " They do want to win, but they don't have the talent," " I think by my junior and senior year we'll be alright." one final thought to cling to...." I can't wait to play in the ACC. I thinkg they want to win, and I know that I can help them!"

FSU -recruiting report
The key to FSU's recruiting is Anthony Richardson. The wing forwar, who signed with the 'Noles as a prep senior last year, may have to attend a year of prep school, see above, for a season. Expect Richardson to become the toop target in 2001-02 should that happen three scholarships remain open to Steve Robinson. Point guard is a must!
PG Donte Gennie could be the first to commit. WF Rashad Anderson is another in state talent who has drawn heavy attention to FSU. He's a well-built slasher who excels in transition and has improved his perimeter. WF Cortez Davis, NJ PG Elijah INgram,BF Fabian DAvis, WG/WF Vincent Grier, and WG Zakee Boyd also remain on the list as prospects.
Clemson: The Tigers Reel in Prepstar from Leesville Road Shawan Robinson
Shawan Robinson, a 6'2" rising guard, at Raleigh's Leesville road, gave his commitment to the Tigers recently according to elitehoops.com. Robinson ranked #100 in prepstars summer poll. He plays for Raleigh's AAU heat team, and his Dad coaches basketball at Leesville. He will be a great PG addition to his team, and is expected to improve in the ratings after his show at adidas camp, and over his senior season.

It's going to be tough for Clemson to follow up last year's recruiting performance. After landing a deep athletic group in 2000-02, the Tigers entered the summer with only a pair of scholarships to award this season. They really need Big Guys and Wing players, to overcome the loss of seniors and PG Will Soloman, who placed high in the second round of the NBA draft.
At press time, the Tigers, wake and NC state had all worked their way into his list. Other targets BF Curtis Withers, WG Camerson Bennerman, PG Shawan Robinson as well.

Former Georgia Tech Center and Defense standout, Alvin Jones signs with the 76ers~ Torin Francis to visit Georgia Tech(more tommorow)~Georgia Tech
Four time all ACC defense team, and Georgia Tech standout, Alvin Jones signed with the Philadelphia 76ers Monday. The 76ers signed three rookies, Samuel Dalimbert of Seton Hall, and Damone Browning of Syracuse. Jones, a 6'11 Center, was 57th overall in the draft pick. He averaged 10.6 points per game, and 8.7 rebounds per game. He is also a career high scorer for the jackets.

Man you've got to give rookie ACC coach Paul Hewitt, credit, having coralled one of the nation's best classes last year, his second effort aso has started promisingly. He is definately on the lookout for a PG somewhere out there! It is vital for the team as a whole for the 2002-03 season, Tech is involved with many good recruits including top 25 pg Jarrett Jack and also PG Deron Williams, PG Justin Gray and PG DEe Brown along with PG Bryan Hopkins and Chadd Moore. Four available scholarships remain intact. other recruiting targets include Torin francis(C)(doubtful) and Travis Garrision, among others.
NBA Update
Alvin Jones -Georgia Tech - #57 to the 76ers
Will Soloman -# 33 to the Memphis Grizzlies

Clemson dodges the ball to catch the Hoop on two top female recruits.
Well it looks like the Clemson's woman's bball team lucked out this week, reeling in two top prep recruits, both of the same state of South Carolina, which also serves as Clemson's home base. Hillcrest Center Amanda White, who has been a clemson fan since she was litte was happy for the opportunity. Infact thats an understatement considering the fact that she's gone to the womans Acc tournament for the past two years just to see the team play. Clemson also fetched hot on her feet PG Julie Talley as well. Both really liked the coaching staff, led by Jim Davis.
