Tarheels desperate for a win-Wake preview:
The last couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of trauma for heel fans. The loss to Georgia Tech last saturday was a new low which Carolina has not really experienced for forty years. To put it in perspective the last time UNC had a losing season was when the Johnny Carson Show premiered on NBC. Despite a hopeful win over Clemson and hard play with Duke during the first half the heels can just not stay together and continuously fall apart.
Though Capel and Lang are fairly consistent players with extreme talent the rest of the team lags behind. It is not that the team is lacking talent, no it is lacking smart focused play. Morrison is the quickest guard and one of the best shooters on the team but his rushing the balls leads to multiple turnovers normally which turn to points. Boone is good but tires easily. Williams, Scott and Manuel are probably the most to blame simply because they have made stupid mistakes that not even a nervous freshman should or would make on court. Throwing the ball away, a technical foul during the Duke game and an inability to get inside. They have all shown glimmers of light on the court but as seen during the last meeting of wake and unc they lack the consistency and focus to win. Handing over the win has seemed to be this young teams motto and unless they step up to the plate many traditions will temporarily be in jeopardy.
